Perfectly positioned to explore North Yorkshire…

Positioned on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, we are in a convenient position for exploring the scenic Yorkshire coast and magnificent countryside of the moors.

The Moors and Coast is an area of striking contrasts with amazing natural beauty. Gentle rolling hills are covered in purple heather in summer. There is ancient woodland and vales stretching out to meet the rugged cliffs and golden, sandy beaches. There are waterfalls and streams and moorland villages.

Beechlands is a good base to visit some of the wonderful beaches. Days can be spent visiting coastal towns and villages: Whitby, Scarborough, Sandsend, Runswick Bay, Staithes and Robin Hoods Bay are all nearby.
Inland there are the North Yorkshire Moors to explore and many picturesque villages to visit. A few minutes drive from Beechlands is the popular village of Goathland (Aidensfield), where the TV series Heartbeat was filmed. There are many walks in the surrounding area, with a waterfall near the Mallyan Spout Hotel and many streams with pretty wooden bridges to cross. Other traditional villages to visit nearby include Thornton Dale, Lockton, Levisham, Grosmont, Rosedale, Farndale, Danby, Lealhome and Hutton-le-Hole

The North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway covers 18 scenic miles through the National Park between Pickering and Whitby.
